Exploring Governors Island just got a bit more delicious (and nutritious). The Backstage Café at Water Taxi Beach now offers Picnic Pouches. Visitors to the Island can stop by and pick up a Picnic Pouch and enjoy it on the sand at Water Taxi Beach, or take it to go to enjoy along with the sites, sounds, views and natural beauty of Governors Island.
Packaged in a waterproof, eco friendly insulated Water Taxi Beach branded pouch, choose from the “Butcher Block”, a hearty picnic that includes a grilled chicken wrap, a roast beef sandwich a chef salad, fruit, and bottled water for two ($37), four ($74), six ($111) or eight ($148 +) or more people, or the “Veggie Patch” filled to the brim with two seasonal grilled veggie wraps, a garden salad, a fruit salad an bottled water. For two ($39), four ($78 ), six ($117) or eight ($156+) or more people.
Or, if you’d like to get creative, the build your own Picnic Pouch from anything on the Backstage Café menu, and the staff will bag it for you to take.
Each packages includes:
insulated picnic pouch, complimentary beach ball & frisbee, disposable camera (included with packages for 8+), and eco-friendly disposables.
All food served at the Backstage Café is natural, grown locally, and is antibiotic and preservative free. The Backstage Cafe practices sustainable and environmentally friendly cooking, composting and care.
